There are a number of good restaurants near Montemboeuf.  Although they do require a car to get to, they are worth the trip.

In La Rochefoucauld you will find Chez Steph, a lovely Limousin beef restaurant and the steaks and wine are reasonably priced.  They do not have their own website, but you can call them on 05 45 62 09 11 to make a reservation. We highly recommend that you do, because they do get very busy.   If you want to eat here, you better like your steak cooked rare-medium, anything else i.e. bien cuit (mal cuit as they say) est refusée!

A 15 minute drive away near Montbron is Moulin de la Tadoire.  Next to the Tardoire, this restaurant has a beautiful setting.

A 20 minute drive away in Nieuil there is La Grange aux Oies. Set in the grounds of Château Hôtel of Nieuil this is very beautiful and reasonably priced restaurant.  Again, we highly recommend booking and if you go in the summer, you can enjoy an aperitif on the terrace before your meal.  If it is warm enough you can also eat outside.  The staff are friendly and well trained.  It is a bit of a treat, but well worth it.  It is closed on Sunday nights, Mondays & Tuesdays.

Domain de Etanges

On the road toward the lakes is Domain des Etangs.  Originally built in 11th Century the hotel and restaurant have recently refurbish, this hotel in restaurant is set in stunning surroundings.   There are a number of menus to chose from starting at around €35 for three courses raising to €98 for an 8 course tasting menu.
