La Maison Bois is less than 5 minutes walk from Montemboeuf (village website in French). A little working French village with a Spar, Boucherie, Boulangerie, Post Office, Bank and of course that French Village staple – a hairdressers!
If you need a supermarket
We all know how wonderful French supermarkets are, and fortunately, there is a very good one close to Montemboeuf. The village does have all the shops you would need for basics, but if you would like to do a bigger shop you would need to go to either E Leclerc in La Rochefoucauld (20 minutes drive) or Intermarché in Montbron (15 minutes drive).

The Festival
Every September Montemboeuf holds music festival in aid of disabled children, It is a fantastic experience and the whole village come alive with music and drama. There is all sorts of fun music and drama going on – how about a Frenchman in a kilt singing The Rolling Stones? The festival is more known for it’s Blues and Jazz, so here is an excerpt from the Chicago Blues performing at the 2013 festival
This video is quite long and it is in French, but it gives you an idea just how big and crazy the festival is.
